Bay Rouge Soccer League Rules

Welcome to your Summer Soccer League. This handbook provides an overview of the rules for recreational outdoor soccer leagues for adults. Many of the “house” rules are in place to foster game control and fun.

Please take a minute to read this handbook. There are probably things in here you didn’t know, plus, some rules differ from other sports leagues.

Remember we’re a soccer club and a soccer family, first and foremost. Have fun and be nice to the referees and opposing teams.

Registration and Late Fee

Players are expected to individually pay their team captains (managers) and the captain will make a one-time payment to Bay Rouge for their team.
Team fee can be paid for via Venmo @BayRougeCo. No personal checks are accepted.
Registration is on a first come-first served basis.
Each individual must register here.
Refunds will be given if we are unable to fill a league.
There is no refund policy for teams who wish to drop out after the registration deadline passes.
Any additional questions, you can reach out to us via our contact information below.

Game Times

The 7v7 summer league is held on Saturdays and begins at 9:30am.
The game clock will start, if possible, right at scheduled game time. In this case, both incoming teams must be warmed up and ready to take the field.
All games have an automatic 10-minute grace period from the scheduled start time to avoid forfeit. (This grace period is not from the end of the previous game.)
Games will not be delayed due to players participating in other games.

Field Players

  • All jerseys on a team must be the same base color.

  • Shin guards are required and must be covered.

  • Braces must have all metal covered.

  • Any player found with improper footwear, may be told they cannot participate.

Player Eligibility

Age Requirement - League players must be at least 18 years of age.

Team Roster and Lineup/ Score Cards

Players will need to accept the waiver forms and register individually to be placed on the team's roster.
This link is a google form that each player will sign with all of their information. This is not where players pay. Players are expected to individually pay their team captains (managers) and the captain will make a one-time payment to Bay Rouge for the team.

Before a game, each captain will be given a blank lineup card to fill out and turn in to the referees.
First and Last names are required as well as the managers signature at the bottom of the card.
This will be your team's official lineup for that game only.

The playoff roster is frozen after the first 3 played games of the season (July 8, 2023).
To be playoff-eligible, a player must be on the official roster, to be completed no later than after the teams 3rd completed game.
If you are roster checked during playoffs and do not have eligible players you may have to forfeit the game.

Please complete the roster with first and last names before each game.
It is the manager's responsibility to make sure that all substitutes are put on the card.
At the end of the game each manager is expected to confirm the final score for accuracy.
If there is a discrepancy, it should be corrected at this time. If an incorrect score is posted please report it to a staff member, email BayRougeCo@gmail.com or text (408) 835-3907 with your game information immediately so it can be corrected as soon as possible.

Rain-Out Policy

In the case of questionable weather, call or text (408) 230-3053 or email us at BayRougeCo@gmail.com.
Bay Rouge Co will send an email to the teams the morning of league games if there is any cancellation.

Make-Up Game Policy

All games canceled due to rain are not subject to be made up for.
Team managers are responsible for checking emails or www.BayRougeCo.com to find out more information about this.

Respect

Referees have discretion on the rules.
This means if they believe for the betterment of the game that a rule should be waived for purposes of customer service, they can make their own judgment call.
We do this because we believe you are customers first and players second.
This may at times seem inconsistent and we understand.
The referee’s decision on “points of fact” (discretion, judgment) will stand as called. This is common policy in all sports officiating.
Only the authorized captain may discuss a call with the referee provided it is civil and in between periods. Please help control your own teammates so we may all enjoy the game.

Dissent

Excessive and abusive language or violent conduct are not tolerated anywhere on the premises.
These actions may result in a yellow or red card depending on the severity and referee's discretion.
Dissent can also occur between players when acting in an unsporting manner, this too will not be tolerated.
We are here for your enjoyment. Please help your teammates keep perspective.
